Mackex Services delivered 33kV overhead line relocation works at Gillieston Heights in the Hunter Valley, relocating 16 poles of existing Ausgrid overhead transmission infrastructure to enable a new residential subdivision. Works were delivered in coordination with civil contractor Simmons Civil and completed in March 2023.
Works involved the relocation of approximately 16 poles of existing 33kV overhead electricity network from its original alignment to a new easement corridor compatible with the residential subdivision layout. Mackex performed full Level 1 ASP design and construction, including new pole erection, conductor stringing, cross-arm and insulator installation, decommissioning of the original pole line, and all Ausgrid network switching and approval coordination.
Relocating live 33kV overhead infrastructure in proximity to an active residential construction site required detailed safe-work planning and strict exclusion zone management to protect civil construction workers from electrical hazards. All switching operations on the 33kV network required Ausgrid’s Network Management Centre authorisation and coordination. The new pole line alignment required surveying and easement coordination across the developing subdivision to ensure long-term network access compliance.
