Mackex Services provided Level 1 ASP overhead and underground network connection works for the Bungala Solar Farm near Port Augusta, South Australia — one of Australia’s largest operational solar farms at 220MWac. Contracted under Enel Green Power’s project delivery team, Mackex delivered critical high-voltage infrastructure linking the 800-hectare solar array to the ElectraNet 132kV transmission network.
Works encompassed construction of 33kV collector network infrastructure within the solar farm, including overhead line installation across the 800-hectare site and underground HV cable connections from the collector switchyard to the transmission connection point. Mackex delivered pole erection, conductor stringing, cable installation, termination and jointing, and coordinated all witness testing and energisation activities with the project’s independent engineer and the network service provider.
Constructing HV infrastructure across a large-scale solar site in remote South Australia required precise scheduling around PV panel installation contractors to prevent access conflicts. The 33kV collector switchyard works demanded strict compliance with high-voltage safety management plans and isolation procedures. Energisation of the generation facility required coordinated commissioning with the AEMO-registered generator and ElectraNet’s network control, with zero tolerance for unplanned energisation events.
