Mackex Services delivered electrical infrastructure works for the $40 million upgrade of Tuggerah Station on the Central Coast, contracted under DT Infrastructure’s delivery programme for Transport for NSW. Works provided HV power supply connections from Essential Energy’s distribution network to support the station’s new platform infrastructure, lifts, lighting and passenger amenity systems.
Works included Level 1 ASP design and construction of new HV underground cable connections from Essential Energy’s network to station electrical infrastructure, metering and protection equipment installation, and coordination of all Essential Energy approval, inspection and energisation activities. Mackex managed supply continuity to existing station infrastructure throughout construction, ensuring no unplanned supply interruptions to operational railway systems.
Working within an operational railway station environment required strict compliance with Transport for NSW’s Rail Safety requirements and Sydney Trains’ access and possession management procedures. All electrical works near operational rail infrastructure required electrical safety observer coverage and interface with the Train Controller for track access windows. Essential Energy’s connection approval programme was managed against a construction programme with fixed milestones tied to the station’s opening schedule.
