Mackex Services performed overhead distribution network works along the Mandalong Road corridor in the Hunter Valley, undertaking pole replacement, conductor upgrades and network maintenance activities on Ausgrid’s distribution infrastructure in this rural residential and mining-adjacent corridor.
Works encompassed replacement of deteriorated timber poles, installation of new conductors and insulators, and maintenance of existing overhead infrastructure along the Mandalong Road network corridor. The project addressed ageing network assets identified through Ausgrid’s asset management programme and required working in a corridor shared between rural residential properties and the adjacent Mandalong coal mine operations area.
Works in the Mandalong Road corridor required coordination with both rural residential landowners and the Centennial Coal mining operations in the adjacent mine area. Planned outage windows to perform conductor replacement required supply interruption management for affected rural customers. Access for pole-erection equipment along the rural road corridor required traffic management and access coordination with local council. Works were staged to minimise individual customer supply interruption durations.
