Mackex Services provided a Level 1 ASP high-voltage service connection for Woolworths’ Hurstville supermarket redevelopment, delivering a new 11kV underground cable connection from Ausgrid’s distribution network to the retail centre’s on-site substation to support the expanded facility’s electrical load.
The project involved design and construction of a new HV underground cable route from the nearest Ausgrid pillar to the retail centre substation, including civil trenching through a complex urban environment, cable installation and jointing, metering equipment installation, and coordination of the network connection approval process with Ausgrid. Works were completed within the builder’s programme to allow the refurbished store to open on schedule.
Routing an HV cable connection through a dense urban commercial precinct required careful potholing to identify existing underground services and management of council road occupancy approvals. The project was time-critical given the retail opening programme, requiring fast-track design approval through Ausgrid’s connection process. All cable jointing and termination was performed to Ausgrid’s technical standards with witness inspection at key hold points.
