Mackex Services performed high-voltage underground cable relocation works on Captain Cook Drive, delivering the electrical infrastructure component of a major road upgrade project. Works involved the relocation of existing Ausgrid HV underground cables that conflicted with the road widening and upgrade footprint.
The project required design and construction of new HV cable routes to replace existing infrastructure displaced by the road corridor upgrade. Works included civil trenching and conduit installation within the road reserve, HV cable installation and jointing, decommissioning of redundant cables, and surface reinstatement to council specification. All switching and temporary supply arrangements were managed with Ausgrid to maintain supply to affected network customers throughout construction.
Executing HV cable works within an active road upgrade construction programme required detailed interface management with the road contractor’s earthworks and drainage operations. Cable relocation in a busy road corridor involved complex traffic management and lane closure approvals. Maintaining supply continuity to adjacent residential and commercial customers during cable relocation required careful outage planning with Ausgrid. All jointing works were performed to Ausgrid’s technical standards in underground pits.
